It's a Bad Day for Prom

It's a Bad Day for Prom

Today's post is from a photo shoot I did a few months back, the concept was a prom day gone wrong. I can imagine that every girl has a tough time getting ready for prom, as this is one of the biggest day's in a young one's life. As my model Amber stated “it was like pulling her hair out!”
I wanted to acomplish a grunge look to the shoot so we put her in front of a textured wall with a main light in the front and slightly off to the left side shooting through an umbrella. For fill light I went with a hard light from her right side to give some definition to her body. After the shoot I added a texture to the background in photoshop using one of my favorite textures from photographer Gavin Seim.

Thanks for viewing my post, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to veiw my work come back tomorrow for another new image!

" I Dare you not to smile!"

“ I dare you not to smile!”

Today's post is one of my favorite photos I've taken to date. My son is just about 9 months old, he is one of the happiest babies I know. He smiles at strangers, jumps for hugs, loves playing with our dogs and can't wait to crawl anywhere he pleases. Some of you may know I am a stay at home father and I take care of this little guy during the day while my wife is at work. I have never had a job that I looked forward to getting up in the morning before this, although my photography is right up there and almost as gradifying. This is different though, it is so rewarding to watch him grow and know that my wife and I are behind it.

Now I DON'T dance for anyone! Especially in public but if he is looking at me while in his toy and needs a smile you better bet I'm that guy dancing and fumbling around just to have a chance to see that expression. Being a parent is one tough job, but surely one of the biggest gifts one could receive in life. I look forward to each day with my growing family and being able to capture many more images like this. Thanks very much for reading my blog, I hope you enjoyed it!

Overlooking the Storm

Today's post is an HDR photo taken after a passing storm in May of this year.  I couldn't help but to pull over and take a photo when I saw this scene.  Part of being a photographer means that you must have a camera with you at all times, and thankfully I did on this day! Many times I've tried to capture the sun rays coming from behind the clouds and finally had a good image come to life.  I love how this turned out, bright vibrant colors, wispy grass and huge fluffy but defined clouds.  I hope you enjoyed viewing my image thank you for taking the time to stop by.  Have a wonderful Forth of July!

Ben and Amber Wedding Day Memories

Recently I received the chance to photograph a wedding for this lovely couple Ben and Amber. I can't say how excited I was to take part in their wedding day fun! Every step of the way was a true blast, great location, weather was perfect and a wonderful day altogether. I was told I had free reign with my photography, so I took the chance to play and had some great results playing with light. I just wanted to thank Ben and Amber for inviting me to be apart of their big day, treating me like family and trusting me to take care of their memories.

Thanks for viewing my post,

Days in the life

I've thought about this post for a few days and which direction to take it, so here it is.  I am a father of an 8th month old baby boy.  Everyone says once you have a child it changes you as a person.  This has come so true in my life.  Nothing I could have done to prepare myself for him would have been enough.  The amount of joy he provides me on a daily basis is uncanny!  Sure it has ups and downs during the day.  But when he looks up at me with his big blue eyes all my problems go away for those few moments.  I am truly blessed to spend my days enjoying the smiles and laughter with my wife and son!

Morning sun in Madison Tn

This is my first blog post and is something I want to start on a regular basis. This photo is from my first wedding I shot back in April. Due to the amount of images I captured I looked over this one for over a month!

I captured this image while enjoying a cup of coffee at the reception. I've never had a lot of luck capturing the sunrays through the clouds. So with the intent of turning this image into an hdr (high dynamic range) photo. I hoped that I could pull the rays out and make a great photograph. As you can see the clouds look very vivid and with abit of dodging and burning the effect really took hold.

Thanks so much for reading my blog I hope you enjoyed my photo! Come back tomorrow when I post a classic black and white of my son.
